Beau Miles
Australia
Приєднався 18 тра 2016
Beau spent his childhood looking for golf balls, secretly hoping to find a body part in the swamps and marshes. He still looks in odd places for much the same thing (and feeling). Being redhead means that sunscreen, big hats and old business shirts cloak him during outdoor life. He likes baths more than showers, homemade wine and licorice. By god he likes licorice.
I'm sick
It turns out I've had Pneumonia for a year. So, I made a film about my year of being crook, and the silver lining to knowing what the hell I have, and in this case, how it can only get better.

My midlife adventure crisis in the form of ultra running
Переглядів 219 тис.Місяць тому
Yeah, I run. I’ve always run, but not like this; with a plan, bags of Tailwind, a beeping watch, and the looming deadline of a race that’s happily called the hardest 100k race in Australia. That means proper training, taking it a bit more seriously than some of my antics in the past, and likely means I can’t just eat bananas. That, and I’ve lined up for this bloody race twice and not finished (...

THE NARCISSIST: I’m on the verge of UA-cam burnout, caught in the wicked world of shoot, make, upload, repeat. It’s a good life, and this ain’t a grizzle, no, it’s more of a reflection of how I’ve been sucked into the belief that more is better and consistency is king. I’m sure this can be the case, but it sucks to live by it. And I haven’t fished in too long, and I like fishing. I’m patient wh...
Walking 90km to work changed my life
Переглядів 498 тис.2 місяці тому
I first walked to work in the early summer of 2014. Door to door, my university job was 93 kilometres away, or 90 when I took missguided shortcuts. After a few years of talking about doing more adventuring in closer to home places, often called mundane, places that would never have a postcard printed in their honour, I decided to walk from my porch to my desk. A trip that takes 75 minutes in th...

JUNK SCREWS: There comes a time in life when you need to sort your shit. In my case, screws and nails and hardware and a wide variety of weird stuff I’ll never use. Occupying opportunistics homes in yogurt containers, hats, shoe boxes and green bags, it’s fair to say my weakness for a second hand screw means they’ve infiltrated every bloody corner of the farm. That’s what this simple film is ab...

A BLOODY LONG RUN - EPISODE 3: I find myself in good shape, in the mountains, about to start day two of running the 220km McMillans walking track. I'd failed on my first attempt 15 weeks earlier and was back, bearded, a little cagey, fresh off the back of some hard months of training in the hills. I was here for two reasons; to run the magnificent backcountry of my home state, and to think abou...

A BLOODY LONG RUN - EPISODE 2: Something was wrong. I was attempting to be the first person to run McMillans walking track- a route cut into the remote and rugged Australian mountains in 1864 by the men of infamous mass murderer Angus McMillan. 55km into the proposed three day run, contouring the steep flanks of the Crooked River, it occurred to me that I hadn’t leaked all day. Out of touch fro...
My longest run ever - Retracing the footsteps of a murderer (Ep 1)

A BLOODY LONG RUN - EPISODE 1: In 1864 the mass murdering pastoralist Angus McMillan cut an ambitious 220km path through the mountains between two remote gold mining towns in the heart of Victoria, Australia. 120 years later a group of bushwalkers stitched the trail back together. When I found out about the track I decided to run it, thinking ‘gee, this track has a story to tell’! Running 73 km...

“1000 years from now no one may not ever remember you, but the effects of your actions will be felt.”Imagine how If those trees never get cut down by anyone how dense that field would become with forest.
I’m pretty sure that’s just how Jim Henson died. Don’t be Jim Henson.
Dont try to prove yourself so hard man. When you are sick get better first.
Rest bro please we like you alive
I might try this.
Mommy is spot on.
Homeless Level 9000 (without beeing homeless)
Deff cap he didn’t eat a single tin bean
Eat well, drink water, rest. Heal well Beau.
Maybe we don't drink the stuff by the side of the road eh?
Would be smart to take a vaccine,in your case where cash is unlimited I don't get why you wouldn't?
BEAU PARAGLIDING HOO-FECKIN-RAYYYYYYYY. FLYING CONTENT TO COME!!!!!
Just centuries ago people used to die of pneumonia at a young age. Beau please listen to the doc and make sure you're alright. Screw the youtube stuff if it gets in your way, we all want you to be alright first and foremost.
Myocarditis.
I would have advised to go out as a champ, but you chose to have kids, you don't have this previlige.
Beau at 70% is better than 99% of UA-camrs 110% of the time.
Please for the love god look after yourself dude!! We need you, and really mediocre film maker... cmon man please give yourself some due credit as you are so amazing and inspiring.
you go get 'em beau! love the music sounds alot like Mezerg!!!
Scarred hour alveoli. 100%
I guess it's the price of burning the candle at both ends one of the many prices for insane productivity but if you're suddenly struck dead or this pneumonia catches up with you you can still say look at all I've accomplished, yes?
Beau take it easy mate take some time out and recover . Your an inspiration to me If you really want to keep on with the UA-cam thing Maybe some long scenic day hikes Would be just as good mate Take care
As a RN I agree with your mother. You could have had a pulmonary embolism or even cancer! Viral coughs can last 6 weeks. Asthma can cause chronic coughing too, but please don’t ignore a 6 month cough! If you don’t allow your body time to rest it will ultimately take longer to heal. 🫤
Mate, you were in my home town and didn't even call! Hope you stayed away from the Mississippi water and had a pint at the Crown and Anchor. Get well soon.
I got to say, pneumonia was a chronic problem for me since i was young. Once I hit 50, i got the pneumonia vaccine and I have been super healthy ever since. May be a coincidence but after 35 years of being sick this has been a game changer.
Take care of yourself Beau, hope you can get some good rest in and things clear up quickly.
V-aids
Dude, people die of pneumonia. Don't be an idiot. Just rest. You could do a film about attempting slow living for 6 months.
Food fatigue is a viciously real thing. It takes psychological grit to get through 40 days of eating the same food -- to say nothing of years and years of eating it. Thanks for making this video.
Hi, Beau! Last year, I was sick for 6 months straight. I kept doing all of my normal things; never missed a day of work, etc. I don't love seeing doctors but I did a few virtual visits. It took winter break (I'm a teacher) and a visit home to see my parents to finally get around to resting enough to care for myself. After that, it took a few more months of ups and downs to completely normalize. Anyway, I certainly agree with the rest of the comments, and I'm happy that you're taking steps to care for yourself. Feeling good is SO MUCH better than feeling bad, even if you can function at 70%. If you have the ability to feel good by caring for yourself, you definitely should. (I completely recognize that just resting and seeing a doctor a few times doesn't help everyone. Chronic illness can be life altering for many people, and I don't mean to dismiss that in any way. 💙)
“I am going for a run…” famous last word, ey? … I wouldn’t..
I’ve had walking pneumonia before too. Didn’t figure out what was going on until I caught both a cold and fever and fainted in a restaurant. Took 2 weeks to recover with lots of time just resting in bed. You really need to rest and fully recover, this is disease not pushing your physical limits. ADHD may keep you fidgeting but when medicated you can stop like most other people.
Imagine your body as a bucket with a hole in the bottom. Rest, relaxation and fun = water in from the tap. Work, effort and difficulty = water out of the hole. Make sure your bucket doesn’t run dry.
Hi sick, Im.. Im... who am I? 👁️ - 👁️
I had Pneumonia, in about a week I was so low on oxygen I was pretty much in a coma. I was hallucinating and what not, by the time those were happening I don't have much memory other than going to the hospital to get on some oxygen.
Hope it clears out soon fella.
Love you Beau! all the way from Tennessee!
You should probably be taking ivermectin every day lol
While I can appreciate how difficult raising kids is, these parents willingly elected to have them, no one held a gun to their head. They can also afford a nice vacation outside of the country, a large modern home, and they have a large social support group. In short, they’re still better off than many of us ever will be, and I simply cannot bring myself to care about these burdens that they willingly elected to shoulder.
Be interesting to know how many covid infections you have had beau. Even one covid infection can cause immune dsyregulation and I am seeing so many people get reoccurring chest infections after having covid, myself included.
PLEASE REST, PLEASE! your family needs you and the world would be worse without you. please treat yourself better
Beau is the toughest man alive but he does bath in his undies 😄😄
This was your finest content. You should show more of the Australia we ought to know about.
On the bright side once you get your full lung capacity back I bet you feel super human.
You are doing too much, take medicine and get rest
You keep being a bloke, you will stop coughing when you dead, promise! wife & kids don’t need you, they be fine🤷♂️ I ignored and it took me a full year to feel 100% again who knows what scaring and damage I did. You are a bloody nice bloke, Health is Wealth take 3 months rehabilitation from anything strenuous & use that good brain to think of ways to stimulate your needs to carry on
Glad I didn't watch the whole thing since it was a failure at the end
Bugger, thats no good. Still your glass half full is inspirational. get well eh
How many pairs of runners must you go through, running 100km per week ?
